It’s National Dear Diary Day!

So how many of you have a diary or journal and love writing in it? I do, and hope all of you do, too!

I got my first diary when I was around seven. It was dark green and hard covered and had a lock and key. I loved that I could keep things secret, too! It was just so special to me.

I loved writing my thoughts and feelings in it and all that was happening in my life . . . the fun and not-so-fun things, the happy and sad. Sometimes it’s great to just get things out. Wouldn’t you agree?

There’s something about writing that makes things more real and helps you discover yourself and is a great way to talk to God, too!

It’s also fun reading it years later, thinking back on special memories and things I forgot and things that make me laugh now, too!

So happy Dear Diary Day! And if you don’t have one, I hope you soon do and start writing in it soon, too!

Yay for Books!

For all of you book lovers out there, it’s National Book Lovers Day!

Aren’t books the best?! . . . where you learn about cool things, or go on adventures, or read fun stories about someone like you! You might go to the library, or have a collection of your own, or read online, or maybe all three! Whatever works for you, I’m sure you love them like I do, and I happened to write one, too! It’s called The Heart to Dance, and I invite you to check it out and even get an e-book today at http://www.joannecurrence.com or Amazon at https://a.co/d/aDQ1G3k.

So how about cozying up in your favorite spot with maybe a cool drink and delving into a fun book or two, out on the patio, or under a shade tree, or snuggled up on the couch. And I hope that you do!

And happy National Book Lovers Day to you, too!

Ahh . . . summer!

So how’s your summer going? Hope you’re doing what you love!

Maybe days at the pool or lake, family bar-b-ques, or movie night and summer sleepovers and staying up late… Whatever you’re doing, it’s sure to be fun!

And, of course, it’s not summer without ice cream, especially on a sweltering hot day… Wouldn’t you agree?

How fun that July is National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday, National Ice Cream Day… Yay!! All the more reason to eat ice cream today!

My favorite is cookies and cream with hot fudge on top. What’s yours?

So how about celebrating with your favorite ice cream today, and have a fun-filled special day!

It’s Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is here! Remember what we did for Mother’s Day? How about doing the same for Dad and listing those things you love about him, too?!

Here are a few of mine . . .

  • how he’d take the family on ski trips in Minnesota up north where there was always lots of snow
  • how he’d take us on vacations to fun summer resorts, and since he loved music, he’d always bring the record player, too!
  • hearing him sing in church as he had a great voice, and he’d sing in harmony, too
  • how he’d send me the best cards when I went off to college with scenic photos on the front, and they’d always make my day

So Happy Father’s Day! May you honor your dad in every way. He’s sure to love your list, and how about a huge hug, too, and have a very special day!

Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s Mother’s Day . . . yay!!!

What would we do without mothers?! Well, for one thing, we wouldn’t be here! Moms are special, for sure!

Whether it’s your mom, step-mom, or adopted mom, how about making a list of how special she is and all that she’s done and sharing it with her?! She’s sure to love it, and I’m sure you will, too!

Here are a few of mine . . .

  • planning my summer birthdays in the backyard with neighbor friends when I was little, and we’d play Drop the Clothespin in the Bottle and other fun games
  • taking me to dance, piano, and skating lessons every week
  • taking me to Bridgeman’s for ice cream . . . always a special treat!
  • playing tennis and golf with me when I was older

As you honor your mother today, how about doing something special for her, too . . . maybe breakfast in bed, a surprise picnic in the park, or making her favorite dessert!

And if she’s no longer with you, my heart is with you, and may you cherish those treasured memories of her.

So hoping your day’s special, and Happy Mother’s Day to you!

Happy Easter!

It’s Easter! . . . the day that we celebrate Jesus being raised from the dead, and that day was so great!

So what’s Easter all about? Well, it all starts with God, the one who created the entire universe and us! So after He created Adam and Eve, Adam messed up in the garden and didn’t obey God. And that’s what we call sin which separates us from God, and sorry to say, because of Adam’s sin, we were all born into sin, too.

But we’re meant to have a relationship with our creator, and God wants that, too. And God’s so amazing, He came up with a grand plan . . . that is, having His son, Jesus, die on the cross for our sins, so by receiving Jesus into your heart you can have a relationship with Him. And that means you can connect with Him every moment of every day and throughout eternity, and how cool is that!? So if you haven’t done that already, I hope that you will!

So Happy Easter to you, and remember to thank God for all that He’s done, and enjoy your day with maybe some fun bunnies and Easter eggs, too!

It’s World Wildlife Day!

So who doesn’t love wildlife? . . . all those plants and animals that exist without humans and live in the wild. From bamboo and banyan trees to redwoods and all. And all the animals so unique… from the giraffe’s long neck and the trunk of an elephant to the spots on a leopard and the chunky rhinoceros, too. It’s amazing how many, and some so funny, too!

So what’s this day all about? Well, it’s about raising awareness of all the wild animals and plants in the world and our need to protect them and live peacefully with them, too. How cool there are so many. Could God be any more creative when He thought them all up?

And which do you love most? How about taking a moment and thinking on your faves and how they add to our world, and while you’re doing that, a happy World Wildlife Day to you, too!

Yay for Snow!

Hey, tween girls! So January’s usually the month for snow . . . LOTS, that is! It’s the snowiest month for most major cities that usually get snow. Even though we’ve hardly gotten much here, it’s finally been coming down. How about for you?

Snowflakes are amazing . . . as light as a feather, but can stop traffic, too! I love how sparkly and intricate and glistening they are, and that no two are alike!

I loved growing up in Minnesota with all the snow and snow days from school! After a blizzard, there’d be a huge drift in front of our living room window where the snow would pile high. I also loved those gentle snowfalls, not even minding it being 20 below, too!

Whether it’s making snow angels, snow forts, or snowmen, or skiing and sledding, or just watching a snowfall, how about taking a second to stop and reflect on God’s wondrous creation! And for those who love winter, yay!!! Enjoy the snow! And if not much has yet fallen this month, I hope it does soon!

Merry Christmas!

What a wonderful time of year! Spending weeks getting ready for Christmas, decorating the tree, finding those perfect gifts for your family and friends, baking fun goodies, gazing at Christmas lights all over town. I love thinking on those special Christmas memories when we were little, too! How about you?

Here are a few of mine . . .

1.) My parents had given each of us three kids a tiny fake tree, and the little colored bulbs would light up with a switch. I’d put it by my bed on Christmas Eve with the lights on all night, and it was just so special to me. I’d love waking up in the middle of the night, looking at it, too.

2.) My mom would bake tons of yummy cookies and candy all month, and I’d sneak a few every time I walked by. Her English toffee was the best!

3.) Probably like you, we couldn’t wait to get up and get the ‘ok’ to see what Santa had left. Besides lots of fun stuff in our stockings, there’d always be an orange, penny, and ribbon candy in it, too.

4.) I loved the candlelight Christmas Eve service at church, hearing the Christmas story and singing favorite Christmas songs, celebrating Christ’s birth. It was so beautiful and joyful to me.

5.) I also loved all the colorful, different sized and shaped, fancy wrapped presents under the tree, but especially loved Jesus being the greatest gift of all!

So what are your faves?

Merry Christmas to you!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey, tween girls . . . Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and friends. As you take a moment to focus on all that you’re thankful for, may it be a joy-filled wonderful day!
