Ah . . . Summer!

So school is out . . . days are getting hot . . . and now it’s time for fun! So what plans do you have for the summer? Any adventures in mind? Maybe you can’t wait to spend days at the pool, eat ice cream, or vacation with your family . . . or maybe it’s picnicking in the park, having summer sleepovers, or camping in the backyard. Any special projects in mind? . . . like photography? or scrapbooking? or learning to train your new puppy? Or maybe you can’t wait to read or journal under the shade tree in your yard . . .shutterstock_35194045

When I was little, summer was about riding my tricycle up and down the driveway, birthday parties in the backyard, and running through the sprinkler. Getting older I remember having a blast at church camp (it was even on an island!), eating homemade ice cream, and family vacations at the lake.

Ah . . . isn’t summer about being carefree and fun? You can have plans or no plans. Get up early or sleep late. You can do what you love or delve into new adventures. You can be by yourself or with loads of friends. But whatever you do, remember that God’s got adventures for you, too. He’s got amazing things that you wouldn’t come up with on your own.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” And what does that mean? That He has cool things planned for your life that are beyond your wildest imagination! Greater than you could ever imagine! Now how awesome is that?

So how do we know what He’s planned? Just get alone with Him, and listen to His whispers. Maybe you’ll start those horse-training lessons you’ve been dying to take or getting your friends together for a weekly bike ride or maybe you’ll start a cooking club . . . yum, now that sounds fun. Or He might nudge you to help an elderly neighbor in her garden, or bake cookies for the new family down the street, or pet-sit for families on vacation. Whatever it is, you’ll have fun doing what you truly love to do. And if you’re helping someone out, your heart will feel warm when you do. Just know that God is smiling when you’re being who He created you to be. He loves it when you are happy and YOU!

So now that June is here, think of all the things you can’t wait to do. Then jump right in and have an awesome start of the summer!
